Illustrating Thursdays: Goose Girl

Illustrating Thursdays is a new meme Created and Hosted here on I’ll Read Anything Once. Along with reading, one of my great loves is art and illustration. Illustrating Thursdays is made to show off both. Favorite picture books or illustrations from a book, illustrations or art based on a book, or art that reminds you of a book you love are all fair game. Make sure to credit the artists and provide info on the books you choose. If you want to participate please do! Leave a link to your posts in the comments and link us in your post. Today’s Book: The Goose Girl (Books of Bayern #1)

Author: Shannon Hale

Publisher: Bloomsbury

The Goose Girl (YA, fantasy) is one of my favorite books, it is one that I could (and have) read over and over. It’s my go-to ‘I’m out of books and MUST read!’ book. ‘The Goose Girl’ was my favorite fairy tale as a child, and Hale’s retelling is stunning. Her writing pulls you into the story and her characters are warm and real. Highly recommended.

Imagine my joy when I found the wonderful Fabiola Garza (CrownJewel on deviantART) had created some illustrations based on Hale’s work.

The colors and lines Garza uses are beautiful and definitely evoke both fairy tales the feeling of the book for me. See all of Garza’s Goose Girl inspired works here.
